How is Juneteenth working to be sustainable?
In an effort to reduce plastic pollution and waste, the Juneteenth Planning Committee is pursue alternatives to plastics typically used during celebrations. Some specific actions taken by the committee are:
The Planning Committee also is promoting and encouraging sustainable transportation.
- Using bamboo forks instead of plastic ones.
- Bamboo is a fast growing, renewable alternative.
- Using paper cups with a high recycled content.
- Providing water refill stations for those with reusable water bottles.
